Abstract:
This article reconsiders a classical relativistic problem known as Dingle's Clock Paradox, not completely solved but completely forgotten in contemporary physics. A new version of Dingle's Clock Paradox is presented here, which highlights Dingle's problem on the inertial dilation of time. And a new argument inspired by Dingle's Paradox is then constructed in which the apparent, not real, nature of inertial time dilation is demonstrated, which at least partially proves Dingle right. At the same time, it is also recalled here the possibility of interpreting the spacetime deformations of special relativity as apparent deformations, as apparent and experimentally verifiable as the refractive deformation also caused by light. A second interpretation of these deformations is also considered: that they are the inevitable consequences of explaining a discrete world with indiscreet mathematics, the infinitist mathematics of the spacetime continuum, one of whose axioms, the Axiom of Infinity, could be inconsistent.
