Abstract:

This chapter deals with mass and inertia. It also introduces the concept of preinertia, a physical concept that is implicitly assumed in both classical and relativistic mechanics, and that is made explicit in this part of the book. The chapter also discusses on the relativity of mass and deduce the relativistic increment of mass in two different ways, one of them independent of Lorentz transformation. The last section proves a conflict involving relativistic mass, SR and absolute motion.
