Abstract:
Relativity insists that each object at a point in space can have its own version of time, which may run faster or slower than other objects elsewhere.
Relative changes in the experience of time are said to happen when one object moves towards, or away from, another object, which causes clocks to run at different speeds in different locations.
In this paper I outline some simple events whereby the notion of time dilation is shown to be weak, or to fail, and that the inclusion of length contraction only makes matters worse.
