Abstract:
Here, I use the McMahon field theory to present an explanation and a physical model as to why light moves slower through different transparent materials, compared to a vacuum. First, I present the basics of McMahon field theory as to how light moves as a secondary coil, then I’ll explain the index of refraction and the physical affect this has on the light coil. It is this affect that causes light to slow down when passing through different materials.
