Abstract:
It has always been assumed that current moves through wires at extremely slow speeds, in the order of millimeters per second. However, in this paper, I present a more logical model for electron velocity and conduction through conductors. I begin by reviewing the old model, and then present the new model, called the McMahon least resistance model. This model shows that the velocity of electrons moving as current move with velocities close to the speed of light through conductors. I present the ideas behind this new model, one at a time, so the reader can see the logic and understand it.
